Group Meeting #1
During our first group meetings in class, I had a lot of fun being able to talk about me and my partner's film with people who I have never spoken to, especially about my project. I was able to give advice, connect, and laugh with people I have never really done any of those types of things with. I found it so entertaining listening to other ideas on the same project we're doing that I've never heard before.
| (Me, Kylie, Lorenzo, Luca, Henry, and Gabriel) |
This was my group! The boy in front of me is actually in my science class, the boy next to him was friends with one of my friends freshmen year, and I went to middle school with the boy next to that boy with the beanie.
Kylie:
The girl next to me (Kylie) sits right in front of me and she was telling us about how she planned to make her film a psychological horror that involves a killer chef. She plans to films it in her partner's house. Kylie told us a lot of the overall idea that she wanted to create with her film, such as having classical music or humming in the background to add an eerie vibe to her film. She had a cool idea for her film but we did think it would be a little hard to get the plot of everything she wanted into the short amount we have to actually film it. We ended up on just making her plans for creating the horror part of the film more prominent and adding small details that can add to the psychological part of it such as making the main character, the chef, look more crazy. We also finalized for her film on making the steak she was talking about that she wanted the chef to be cooking, to be more brighter than the other things that would be aside him. This would also be to make the blood that cooking from the steak more intense and add more to the whole introduction of the entire film.
Lorenzo: For Lorenzo's film, he told us how he wanted to make a horror mystery type of film that mainly involves a mysterious figure. He told us he planned to create a missing person poster to show that someone had obviously gone missing and while this would be in the tv, the mysterious figure would be looking at it in a dark, cold looking room. We were mainly talking about how lighting is big factor in making it seem as dark as he wanted, and the only light source also being from the tv. We ended up finalizing on his film having a very important small or bright light and how the proper usage of lamps and small lights would be necessary to making the eerie, creepy message go through. Lorenzo also wanted to make everything very vague and give minimal information about the entire plot and keep it to only those specific things giving any form of information, so we didn't exactly try elongating his ideas like we did for some of the other people in our group.
Luca: When wee were talking about Luca's film, he told us how he had previously planned to do a romance movie considering the fact one of his partners is a girl and there's another guy and I had suggest a love triangle but then he told us how they ended up changing it into a thriller. One of his ideas were to involve a scene of a highschooler (which would be one of his partners) sneaking in through the back of his house late at night after a crazy time at a party. I mainly tried helping him get ideas of where the party would be at, and since he told us they would be recording in a neighborhood, I suggested of them filming the party scene in their community pool and create a following shot of him stumbling back to his house that would be waling distance. I included the stumbling part for his film because they said they wanted to involve the fact the character wouldn't be exactly sober throughout the entire time he would end up getting caught sneaking back into his home. Luca also said that he wanted to do like a scene of flashbacks when he would get caught of all the crazy things that happened that led up to him eve having to sneak out in the first place.
Henry: Comedies are a hard thing to film but I think Henry would be able to pull it off because he is creative. One of his references was the opening of Napoleon Dynamite. He even showed us and it was super creative thing as he was explaining he wanted to o the same thing at a school or something similar to like pencils, boards, and other things that fall under that type of category. He had said how he really wanted to do an artistic style for the credits as well as involving a solo type of opener. Napoleon Dynamite had a longer type of opener to properly show the credits which I kind of liked. Henry said he was not sure of where he wanted the film to take place and I did not want to rush him or make him just write somethin down he probably would not even want to do later, so I only tried suggesting some things like such as if it were to take place in a boys' room, he could use like action figures, drawing, pens, cartoons, clothes and other things in order to make it seem like his reference.Gabriel: For Gabriel's film, he wants to do an action/drama of a person who has a physical disability and wants to be a boxer. He said it would be easier to made the physical disability an eating disorder. We spoke about how the beginning of the film would be the character in a boxing class either getting bullied by others, spoke to rudely by others, or simply enjoying his time as he works hard in there. Throughout the duration of that, it is when he would introduce the title screen and then it would cut to the character actually being bullied because of looks and his "fantasy" of being a boxer.
Mine: I was the last one to talk as we were running out of time in class but when I was able to talk I could only tell them a small amount of what I had planned to do for my film. I told them how I wanted to make it a psychological romance with a young girl in high school who seems to prioritize school work over her loving and important relationships with family, friends, and her boyfriend. I told them how I was trying to base my main character off an actual close friend of mine and part of the feedback I received was from Henry and it was to create one of my CCR's about her. Another piece of feedback I got from Kylie and many others in the group agreed, was to either introduce or create a scene in the film opening of our main character being in a therapist session as they have a conversation about her mental or physical health.
